What are you grateful for? (Work Edition)

Hi there! We spend a third of our lives at work, so making the experience as pleasant as possible it’s key to surviving all those hours glued to our screens and keyboards. Some people light candles, others swear by their standing desks and mini treadmills combinations and others simply like to listen to music or relaxing sounds. However, not everybody thinks the same. Call me crazy, but sometimes a lot of background noise (TV on, a podcast, etc) really helps me focus. Other times, I prefer nice, soft music. Total silence? That would never work for me. Hey there everyone! 😎We have reached the end of 2024 and the busiest and most exciting months of the year for many businesses are here. There’s much to do, plenty to prepare and probably many long days and nights are ahead of you. Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Christmas can feel like a giant roller coaster with no working breaks. And it got me thinking, do you guys have any traditions to make this time of the year more bearable? 🤔Back when I was a young student, I used to work for a bookshop here in the UK called Waterstones. During the busy Christmas period, we would get free drinks at the cafe. One of my coworkers and I made a pact of having a drink together during our breaks and talking about anything BUT work. Happy Halloween! 👻Being a developer it’s definitely not for the faint-hearted: to be a good one, you need to think on your feet, have a great memory, know several programming languages and so on. It doesn’t sound scary right? Oh, but we all know that there are days (or nights) when no ghosts, no zombies and no witches are as scary as a bad day working as a dev: bosses who want you to release updates that are not ready yet, colleagues who rename new fields in database tables and make the whole project disappear. A friend of mine worked in a food delivery app and his team brought down the whole Asian market for a few hours. Hey ladies and gents, I wanted to ask you, how do you stay organised? Because let’s be honest, a bit improvisation and adventure never hurt anybody, but there’s no better feeling than knowing you’re on top of your to-do list and both your personal and work life are organised. These are some of the things I do that help me keep things under control:I write down everything I need to do. 📝 I have a pretty good memory, but modern life = a hundred tasks, and it’s better to be safe than sorry!
