Hi everyone,

Well guys, we made it! Last two days of January. I don’t know about you, but for me the month has felt a bit like this:

January felt eternal

However, January is also the month for setting New Year’s resolutions, and whether you believe in them or not, striving to have better habits is a great way to start the year.

One of my resolutions is to read more. I know, I know, it’s a bit cliché but in these times when we are all addicted to the dopamine hits social media provides, trying to read a good book before bed feels almost like a rebellion.

So, dear commercetools Community, please share your favourite books with us in the comments. And hey, we don’t judge! If your favourite book is a Dan Brown bestseller, a footballer’s biography, a Jane Austen novel or something from Dostoevsky, we are interested! We want to know what you loved about the book, whether it inspired you, taught you something or simply made you relax.

Can’t wait to see your recommendations!

I’ll start sharing some of my favourite books and authors:

  • Les Misérables - Victor Hugo. Yeah, not the most cheerful book but definitely a great one. For some  weird reason I was obsessed with it when I was a teen. 😅
  • Everything I know about love - Dolly Alderton. I found this book in the “please take it” section of a coffee shop near my place in London and I instantly loved Dolly’s writing: unpretentious and sincere, she’s definitely one of my favourite authors. If you grew up in the 90’s/early 2000’s, this book will make you laugh and cry (maybe at the same time).
  • Neuromancer by William Gibson -a true visionary (a modern Jules Verne), Gibson wrote this book forty years ago and he basically described our current reality (online shopping, social media everywhere, everybody having cosmetic surgery). Fun fact? He invented the term cyberspace.
  • Anything by Sophie Kinsella, but I love Twenties Girl and the Becky Bloomwood series. Her writing is fun and entertaining, perfect to take on holiday and read by the pool.

Hey @Lily

I haven’t read it yet, but I was recently recommended ‘American Kingpin’ about Ross Ulbricht - the man who ran the dark web site, silk road,

Oh and from a business/self development point of view…

The Arbinger Institute’s ‘Leadership & Self-Deception’

Mine is Catch-22 by Joseph Heller. A classic, darkly funny book about the insanity of war and of life in general. Always puts a smile on my face! 😄

Thank you @Marc and @Mark, I`ll make sure to check those out! I’ve always heard the phrase is “a Catch 22 situation”, it would be cool to learn the origin. 🤓
