What are you and your team monitoring when you decide to undertake a commerce platform migration project. Below are some of the KPIs that can be measured during that project to help ensure the success of the migration but also help plan for any future migration activities. The measurements can broken into two key phases:

  • During Commerce Platform Migration
  • Post Commerce Platform Migration

During migration or the implementation phase some of the metrics that can be tracked :

1.) Project Timelines Metrics to measure

  • completion estimates
  • milestone deadlines
  • actual time taken

2.) Monitoring Disruption

  • downtime incidents during migration
  • system performance
  • Internal and External stakeholder impact

3.) Migration costs

  • estimated v actual expenses
  • remediation work costs

Post migration, after the successful launch of the new site or services some of the metrics that be tracked:

1.) Improved Performance

  • load averages
  • platform uptime
  • number of support tickets

2.) Impact of Migration

  • number of orders
  • user engagement rate
  • average order Value
  • conversion percentage
  • cart abandonment rates

3.) Cost and Time savings

  • time saved on maintenance
  • time/cost saved in provisioning
  • staffing costs
  • hardware costs
  • new feature development

4.) Security

  • number of security incidents
  • security compliance reports

Please also help us in the comments understand what other metrics as an SI or Customer some of the key metrics that you track during the project delivery and post go live.

Great topic @Gareth Rea, I think a project with no clear KPIs is doomed, so thanks for sharing some good examples. Hopefully soon some members will share with us their thoughts. 😊
