See you there!

As someone who decided to switch careers in January 2020 (yup, not my greatest moment!), here are some of the job hunting tips that helped me to get a new role:

  • Go back to school! Well, not actual school, but if you want to switch to a completely new role and it involves new skills, joining a class will help you not only to obtain those skills but will also give you the chance to meet people in your desired field.
  • Network, network, network. It is easier said than done, and to be honest I’m not so great at it (is there something more awkward than trying to do small talk with lots of people in business suits? 😫), but going to events and attending classes got me in touch with people who eventually shared job opportunities with me.
  • Reach out to a leader in the area you want to work in. I did it through Instagram and this person accepted to mentor me. She not only inspired me but put me on the right track!

Please, add your own tips to the thread! Can’t wait to read your insights 🤓
